Early Years Foundation Stage
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which covers the follow seven curriculum areas.
Children develop their skills in these areas through a play-based curriculum. As well as having a strong focus on language, phonics and number, the learning environment is designed to promote children’s physical development and creative expression.
Learning is planned as part of a theme or topic, allowing activities to be relevant and purposeful. Wherever possible, our plans follow the inquisitive nature of young children, with careful questioning from adults to ensure that children are given the opportunity to further deepen their understanding.
Our children have access to a large outdoor area which is used all year round. Our Early Years lead is working towards the Level 3 accredited Forest School leader qualification and the children spend an afternoon each week in our copse area within the school grounds.
