Inspiring children to achieve their personal best

Physical Education

At St Andrew’s, we know how important physical education (PE), sport and being active is to the development of children. PE leads to improved fitness, health and well-being, focus, drive, concentration, attitude and academic achievement.

Physical Education is given a high priority and all children have two high quality PE lessons every week, using the Get Set 4 PE scheme of learning. ‘Dancing Darren’ visits each the year and children love these sessions! As part of the Tiptree and Stanway Consortium, we take part in a range of sporting tournaments and events over the year.

Children are encouraged to always strive to achieve their ‘Personal Best’, whether this is running a personal best time or competing at a county event. Healthy competition is key to pupils wanting to improve; competition against themselves and competition against others. We believe these competitions, and opportunities to compete within PE lessons, are just as important in teaching children other values and offering alternative experiences.

PE uniform consists of:

  • plain white or red T-shirts (red may have school logo on)
  • black shorts
  • white or black trainers
  • black jogging bottoms/tracksuit should be worn on colder days
